Lipostructure involves removing the patient's own fat and reinjecting it into areas of the face that have lost volume.
Over time, the shape of the face changes, with subcutaneous fat melting away and wrinkles appearing. This loss of volume gives the face a tired, aged appearance.
Lipofilling or "lipostructure" helps restore volume and erase facial wrinkles. This is the ideal location for lipostructure, as it requires little fat and can also be used by skinny people.
Fat transfer to the face:
The technique is that described by Coleman under the name of lipostructure®. The technique is rigorous and uses specific equipment. It comprises three stages: sampling, centrifugation and reinjection.
Autologous fat has many qualities that make it a benchmark implant:
-autologist;
-biocompatible;
-natural integration into the recipient site;
-permanent;
Anaesthesia :
Facial lipostructure requires general anesthesia.
The incision:
Collection site incision: This is a 2 mm incision. Fat is most often harvested from the inner thighs, as this is the best area for fat collection.
The skin incision at the recipient site is less than 1 millimetre long, "virtually invisible", to enable a cannula to be inserted and the fat gently deposited.
The intervention:
The cannula is inserted all the way through and the injection is retrograde.
In fact, adipocytes are not injected but deposited in micro-deposits. It is important to create a multitude of intersecting tunnels to deposit the fat in the form of a three-dimensional lattice. All planes are grafted, starting with the deepest. This fat transfer technique can also be used for a breast augmentation with fat.
It is important to reinject fat of the same origin into the same areas. This symmetry of collection and injection harmonizes results and reduces the risk of asymmetric resorption.
At the end of the procedure, finger reshaping can perfect the result. We recommend elevating the head and applying cold compresses post-operatively.
Duration:
Facial lipostructure takes 30 minutes
Operative sequences :
-One day in hospital "if associated procedure" or outpatient.
24-hour dressing
-Edema lasting 10 to 15 days.
-Bruising may occur for 7 to 10 days.
-Resumption of social activity within 7 days.
-A natural appearance is achieved after about 3 months.
