Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally present in the dermis. As we age, the quality of this acid deteriorates, and its quantity decreases, leading to a deterioration of the dermis.
Hyaluronic acid is a completely biodegradable product, which explains its excellent tolerance. These fluid products can be injected to reshape certain parts of the face, or to fill in wrinkles, furrows or other facial depressions.
The correction obtained after injection is only temporary (10-12 months) and the treatment must be repeated to maintain the result.
The first aesthetic medicine consultation takes place in 3 stages.
First of all, Dr. Sylvain David will listen to your expectations and try to understand your requests as well as possible.
Then Dr. David will take stock of your face and the best treatments to undertake to beautify and rejuvenate.
Finally, you will be given an estimate, photos will be taken and an information sheet from the French Society of Plastic Surgery.
➊ Nasolabial fold filling
The nasolabial fold appears over time. This disfigurement is often accentuated by the sagging of the cheek over the nasolabial fold. An injection of hyaluronic acid in the nasolabial fold, combined with a moderate injection in the cheekbones, can erase the nasolabial fold.
➋ Bitter lines
Filling bitterness lines rejuvenates the lower third of the face.
➌ Forehead and frown lines
Filling forehead wrinkles and frown lines with hyaluronic acid is a second-line treatment. They complement treatment with botulinum toxin (botox).
➍ Medical rhinoplasty
Medical rhinoplasty treats minor nasal disharmony by injecting fillers (hyaluronic acid or radiesse). Medical rhinoplasty can be used to correct skin depressions, reduce a slight bump on the dorsum, correct a slight asymmetry, or moderately increase the projection of the nose.
➎ Medical facelift
Facial aging leads to loss of ovality and the appearance of jowls. Hyaluronic acid injections help harmonize facial contours and provide a mini-facelift without surgery or scarring.
➏ Lip filling
Lip injections must be moderate and harmonious to achieve a natural result. Hyaluronic acid injections redefine the vermilion, plump the lips and reduce vertical wrinkles.
➐ Cheekbone filling
Injections of hyaluronic acid to diminish nasolabial folds and jowls and reshape the oval of the face.
- No anesthesia or contact anesthesia (EMLA)
- Session duration 15 to 30 minutes
- Immediate return to social activity
The effects are immediate
After 8 to 12 months, the effects of the fillers gradually diminish.
L'hyaluronic acid works by increasing tissue volume. This swelling fills in wrinkles, reduces line marking and "plumps up" the skin. This is a molecule already present in the body, whose function is to maintain a good level of tissue hydration. The synthetic gel injected in the office during sessions lasting no longer than half an hour merely complements the natural hyaluronic acid already present in the skin. Like natural hyaluronic acid, it is also naturally eliminated within a few months. Unlike Botox, hyaluronic acid is not a toxin, and the rare complications observed after its administration are mostly due to technical errors or inappropriate dosage for the patient.
Possible side effects include:
- Allergic reaction: very rare.
- Herpes outbreaks in predisposed individuals.
- Granulomas: exceptional after injection of hayluronic acid.
This ingredient is used in medicine, in certain ophthalmological treatments, osteoarthritis treatments and in the composition of certain drugs. Hyaluronic acid is also widely used in dermatology and cosmetic surgery injections to fill wrinkles and plump skin. The gels we inject in cosmetic surgery are composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar derivative already present in the body. As the skin ages and is exposed to pollutants and UV rays, skin cells lose their ability to produce hyaluronic acid, hardening and deepening facial features.
Synthesized hyaluronic acid-based volumizers can then come into play. Injected under the skin, they can absorb over a thousand times their own weight, acting like a real sponge; ideal, therefore, for moisturizing and balancing dermal volume.
Hyaluronic acid in volumizing form is used in aesthetic medicine to fill static expression lines and compensate for the loss of volume experienced over time.
Many areas of the face can benefit from volumizing injections: lips, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and cheekbones are the most frequently targeted. Losses of volume can also be identified and filled in around dark circles, cheeks and even the temples.
I also use other forms of non-"volumizing" hyaluronic acid, such as skin boosters to rehydrate the skin's deeper layers and redensify it by improving its structure, or mesolift to provide a radiance boost and prevent aging...
After an initial appointment at my office in Nice to explain your needs and rule out any counter-indications. We'll meet again to establish together the ideal "path" to achieve the most natural face possible, while correcting "negative or aging" emotions into "positive" ones.
Determining your injection needs is crucial. Many factors come into play - including age, skin quality and genetics - and influence the amount of product required. An initial meeting allows us to listen to your needs and put forward our expertise to best advise you according to your priorities and budget.
Focus on natural results: that's the watchword during a session. The effects will gradually become visible over the weeks following the session.
After hyaluronic acid injections in Nice, a few small swellings or bruises, camouflaged with make-up, may appear at the injection site, disappearing rapidly. No social eviction is necessary, so you can resume your activities immediately.
The results are immediate, with a natural beauty enhancement and a rested, "rejuvenated" appearance. Results are optimal in the days following the injection, and can last up to 9 months, depending on the area and the quantity injected.
All people with autoimmune diseases, for all people who have had injections in the same area with permanent injectables (silicone type...).
I advise against taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs for 4 days before and after the procedure. Steam baths, saunas, UV booths and alcohol are not recommended in the hours following the session. I also recommend not massaging the injected area in the 24 hours following the injection.
