Cosmetic breast surgery

The bust is a primordial symbol of femininity. Whether naturally small or progressively damaged by pregnancy or aging skin, the breasts can sometimes be a source of considerable discomfort for women. A number of cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures are available to remedy this situation.

BREAST AUGMENTATION

L'BREAST AUGMENTATION is a cosmetic breast surgery procedure designed to increase breast volume by fitting breast prostheses. The size of the prostheses must be decided in agreement with the patient, and Dr. David has specially dedicated sizers in his practice to help choose the optimal size for the future breasts. For a natural result, Dr. David uses the Dual Plan technique to place the upper part of the prosthesis under the muscle, leaving the lower part under the gland. The incision can be made under the armpit, on the lower part of the areola or under the breast.

BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH IMPLANTS

WHY CHOOSE THIS APPROACH?

Would you like your breasts to be fuller and more proportioned?

The surgeon must be able to assess the patient's needs and provide a personalized treatment plan to ensure optimal results.

Because patients' motivations are extremely personal, the surgeon and his team must be attentive to the patient's wishes, but also discuss with her the specific data relating to her anatomy.

The breast augmentation implant procedure must be tailored to a range of factors: the dimensions of the thorax, the initial size of the breasts, the existence of asymmetry; are the breasts empty, sagging or very firm?

This procedure can be performed to increase breast volume in a healthy woman or to reconstruct a breast deformed by a mastectomy.

This type of surgery often boosts a patient's self-esteem and confidence.

HOW DOES THE PROCEDURE WORK?

Breast augmentation can only be performed after the age of 17, when breast growth is complete.

Breast augmentation with implants is the most common method.

The procedure can be carried out as an inpatient or outpatient procedure. In the outpatient setting, the patient is admitted in the morning and usually discharged at the end of the day. In the case of standard hospitalization, particularly when the patient's home is far from the clinic, a 24-hour hospital stay is recommended.

In most cases, a conventional general anaesthetic is used, during which you sleep completely. It is therefore advisable to fast for six hours before the operation.

The duration of this aesthetic breast surgery varies from 60 minutes to 1h30, depending on the surgical technique, the incision method chosen, the location of the implants and the need for an associated plasty (correction of ptosis).

The choice of implants?

The surgeon has many choices, but different factors influence the future result:

> Prosthesis volume: defined according to the patient's wishes and the surgeon's advice,

> Shape: round or anatomical, Dr David only uses round implants.

> Their position in relation to the pectoral muscle,

> Type of filling: silicone or saline

> Induced scars.

In order to reproduce the natural consistency of the breast, a breast implant can be made up of several substances:

> "Cohesive" silicone gel

> Saline solution  (main component of the human body)

The diversity of new prostheses now offers a wide range of different shapes and volumes, enabling an optimum aesthetic solution to be defined.

> The classic round prosthesis

> Anatomical breast implant in teardrop or pear shape

Implants are made up of a completely impermeable envelope that is both solid and elastic, facilitating adaptation to the body.

> Silicone elastomer

> Polyurethane foam

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

The post-operative period can sometimes be painful for the first few days, particularly if the implants are positioned behind the muscle, but pain can also be very slight.

Implant size, skin laxity and positioning influence pain.

An analgesic treatment, adapted to the intensity of the pain, will be prescribed for a few days.

The surgeon must not only understand the patient's wishes, but also do his utmost to camouflage the scars. By making a small incision in the natural fold below the breast, post-operative scars are hidden. In some cases, patients' needs are best met by placing a circular incision around the areola.

Incisions heal fairly quickly (15 days) with appropriate care and become less visible over time, resulting in a marked improvement in appearance.

RESULTS

The result is immediately visible and will be optimal after 2 to 3 months, once the oedema has subsided.

Of course, the quality of the result depends on the patient's original breasts, skin elasticity and healing potential, as well as on the surgeon's indications.

It's important to keep a patient's expectations realistic!

SPECIFIC RISKS ;

> Hardening of the breast (capsule formation): rigid deposits of scar tissue around the prosthesis like a shell. This occurs more frequently when the prosthesis is inserted in front of the pectoral muscle, and if there has been an infection or haematoma.

> To reduce the risk of hardening, the breasts can be massaged. A second operation may be required to remove scar tissue permanently.

> Compression garments: A compression bra for 4 weeks after surgery.

In some patients, asymmetry of the breasts (different volumes between the two breasts) is often noticeable. In others, certain differences may be the result of a deformity of the thorax (scoliosis, ribcage more pronounced on one side, etc....). In these cases, the appearance of the breasts can be improved, but the correction can never be perfect.

L'BREAST AUGMENTATION BY FAT TRANSFER is an alternative to breast augmentation with prostheses that gives natural results, but the patient must have no risk factors for breast cancer and a small amount of excess fat.

BREAST LIFT

Visit BREAST LIFT is a cosmetic breast surgery procedure designed to correct sagging breasts by reshaping the breasts. To correct breast ptosis, the surgeon performs a mastopexy to restore a harmonious shape to the breasts, at the cost of an areolar or inverted-T scar.

Mastopexy by periareolar scarring is rare, and is more often performed in addition to breast augmentation by implant. The implant tightens the breast thanks to the volume increase, while the periareolar lift returns the areola to its ideal position. This technique is ideal for empty breasts with a low areola.

The inverted-T breast lift technique can be used to treat more extensive breast ptosis. A breast lift can be performed in addition to fat or implant breast augmentation. This increases volume, especially in the upper part of the breast, an area that tends to lack volume in the case of sagging breasts.

BREAST REDUCTION

Visit BREAST REDUCTION is a cosmetic breast surgery procedure designed to reduce breast volume by removing excess glandular and/or cutaneous tissue, then repositioning the skin envelope and areola. In general, a breast lift is performed at the same time as a reduction in breast volume, as large breasts often lead to sagging. If 300 grams per breast are removed, the procedure may be covered by social security. The surgeon will, however, charge additional fees.

Visit TUBEROUS BREAST correspond to a malformation of the chest, which can be treated differently depending on the degree of malformation.

Visit BREAST RECONSTRUCTION is used to reconstruct a breast after a mastectomy.
