Over time, the neck becomes crowded and a double chin appears. Liposuction can be effective on its own if the double chin is slight, but if the double chin is too pronounced, liposuction alone is not enough, and it should be combined with a cervico-facial lift.
To perform liposuction, a tiny incision is made under the chin and a small cannula is inserted to suck out the fat.
An injection of botulinum toxin can be performed. It will eliminate the "orange peel" effect of the chin.
In facial aesthetics, the appearance of the profile plays one of the most important roles. The profile consists of three elements: lips, nose and chin.
Chin morphology has both emotional and psychosocial consequences. Its contour and shape determine the harmony of the face.
The chin is a focal point of the face.
The chin area is often overlooked when it comes to facial aesthetics. Yet embellishing it gives the face the support it lacks: it is the pillar of the face and also helps restore harmonious proportions.
Facial aesthetic analysis must take facial harmony into account. At first glance, the chin is often the most obvious flaw.
The chin is made up of the front part of the lower jaw and its front part. The chin muscles cover the mandible (DAO, DLI, mentalis). The action of these 3 muscles plays an important role in the evolution and aging of the chin.
Respecting the proportions of the face, in particular the 1/3 upper-2/3 lower rule on each side of the stomion, creates chin harmony.
The chin is a key element of facial harmony. Filling the chin and, in particular, the labiomental fold, leads to a cascade of aesthetic improvements: support and enhancement of the mouth, reduction of lower lip wrinkles, shortening of the white lower lip, improvement of the retrogena, commissures and oval of the face, not to mention a certain lifting effect of the face and neck, and some improvement of masseter hypertonia.
It also brings functional improvement to dental malocclusions.
Aesthetic criteria for the ideal chin :
Chin projection, given by the mento-cervical angle, should be 85-90°.
The chin should be 3mm behind a vertical line passing through the nasal mid-point and the most prominent point of the upper lip.
The nose-lip-chin complex must be balanced: if we draw a line through the tip of the nose and the furthest point of the cutaneous chin, the lower lip is 2 mm behind this line and the upper lip 4 mm behind.
In the lower part of the face, the distance from the nose to the lip line should be one-third of the distance from the sub-nasal point to the chin.
Dynamic analysis is important for defining treatment.
Hyaluronic acid injections are increasingly replacing the need for surgical prostheses. We call this technique medical genioplasty.
We will be able to correct this by injecting hyaluronic acid;
Hyaluronic acid is one of the main components of the dermis (along with collagen), where it plays a moisturizing and structural role, giving skin thickness, elasticity and firmness.
It is one of the most widely used medical devices to combat skin ageing by restructuring and rehydrating it from within. Its biocompatible and non-allergenic characteristics, as well as its complete resorbability (biodegradable at 100%), ensure maximum safety. Hyaluronic acid does not require pre-treatment testing.
Results last from 12 to 15 months for medical genioplasty.
